Lobo Friday: How Zoey Got On My Nerves

11 04 2008

Once again, I just finished watching another episode of Lobo just minutes ago. My, oh my, these sad episodes are really getting under my skin. Ever since Lyka became a lobo, the run of the show has just been full of tears. GAH! I’m really getting tired of it. I expected that the Luna would start Noah’s advanced training in killing the lobo while Lyka would try to move on so she could master her abilities and hopefully try to learn to live as a taong-lobo (human-wolf).

In the beginning of tonight’s episode, Gabby is instructed to kill Lyka. Lyka overhears the gunman report his instructions using her sensitive hearing and instead of running to take cover, Lyka looks directly at the gunman and freaking just STANDS THERE for what seemed like ages. Hell, if I saw a gunman, directly pointing his gun at me, I’d scream my head off WHILE running for cover. Fortunately for our beloved heroine, Gabby gets a phone call and is instructed to stop the assassination. After the gunman leaves, she then whimpers and starts crying, remembering her childhood days when she used to eat left-over food from the garbage and when she was first recruited (saved) by the Luna. It’s a really sad scene (and is intended for us to learn more about Gabby’s hardships, which is great on the writers’ part), but to have it after the canceled attempt to kill Lyka? I’m not sure if she feels remorse for almost killing Lyka since she’s always been wanting to do so anyway. And if she did feel remorse, then the flashback would explain that she was forced into the Luna so she could survive, but now feels horrible for almost killing Lyka. GAH. Gabby has such a complex personality; it’s difficult to understand what she really wants. Ugh!

As for Trixie and Lyka, I want them to be on good terms again. In my previous posts, I’ve mentioned that I love the bond between those two, and hell, it better come back! Unfortunately, Lyka’s being emo and confused right now, so I guess I’ll just have to wait.

There was also a confrontation between Noah’s little sister, Zoey, and Lyka. If I were Lyka, I would’ve told this little brat that I’ve known Noah since we were kids, unlike her! This is in reference to the time they were at the top floor and Zoey was telling Lyka how Noah changed (she meant for the worse) after she came into their lives. Then Zoey starts asking Lyka where her kuya is. Obviously, Zoey hasn’t been watching the show or at least been listening — how could she not remember when Lyka went to their house, just yesterday, and she walked in at the time Lyka was telling her Dad to tell Noah she said hi. So obviously, if Lyka’s been seeing Noah, then she wouldn’t have visited his house to try to say her greetings! Common sense Zoey.

So aside from Gabby’s flashback and fun Trixie, the other scene I liked from tonight’s episode was when Lady Elle brought Lyka to a children’s school. There, she showed Lyka a fellow lobo, living normally as a teacher and as human being. However, the relief of living normally was cut short when Lyka became moody and ruined it. She proceeded to ask if whether the teacher was married to a human or a lobo, has kids, and if whether the kids were lobo as well. -_-

Moving on, Lady Elle needs to hop on a train speed bullet and tell Lyka that she’s the last guardian, and quickly! The traydor has something up his sleeves and it’s not going to be good for Lady Elle.

Not to forget, the writers need to start putting some lighter and happier episodes back to the show. All this crying is not good for the body! lol

With that said, happy drama viewing everyone! :)

Lobofied Wednesday: Connecting The Dots

9 04 2008

Tonight’s episode was pretty good in that it was able to connect everything together. We are brought back to the past, momentarily, to see how Noah was raised under the care of his adoptive father, General Leon. In my opinion, I think that Gen. Leon really wants to be a real father to Noah, but due to the Luna’s mission, he has to act tough on the boy. (BTW, shooting that dog was a major no-no). In addition, we also discover why the Luna thinks Noah is so “special” — he’s the only one (aside from his dead father) who has blood that is immune from the bite of a lobo. Terrific. :) Well done on the writer’s part on that bit. Now everything about Noah and why the Luna wants him so badly fits together.

Meanwhile, Lady Elle continues to tell Lyka everything: how she knew Lyka was a lobo, how she knew Lyka was her granddaughter, the works. Lady Elle also shows Lyka’s lobo ancestors dating back to the early late 1890s (I’m taking a really, really, wild guess), which I liked. And here’s Lyka, still in utter confusion as to how and why she became a lobo and if there’s a medicine to cure it. GAH! You should be freaking happy that you have family that can tell you everything!

Anways, DO NOT GET ME STARTED WITH NESSA. OMG. Nessa, after living at the Luna laboratory for about 10 years or so, has become so paranoid. Lady Elle drops off Lyka where the mother and daughter are currently living. Lyka proceeds to tell Nessa everything, but the poor woman doesn’t believe a thing, and instead suspects that Lady Elle may be lying since her father never told her about him having a twin sister. Lady Elle then invites the two to stay at her house where they would be safe, but since Nessa is so paranoid, she declines and tells Lyka to never meet Lady Elle again. My first thought was, “Nessa, gaga mo naman.” lol I couldn’t help it.

However, after some consideration, I, as a viewer, would of course think that way. We are the ones who are seeing everything that’s happening, or at least we see what the director wants us to see. Since we know that Lady Elle is Lyka’s grandmother we would obviously think that Nessa’s being a dingus (the first word that popped up in my head, sorry! lol). Whereas, Nessa here, she wouldn’t know; she’s not watching Lobo like the rest of us who are either in the Philippines watching at home, have Youtube, or TFC. So… I guess, I’ll just have to give her a break. :P

Though, hopefully Nessa is able to accept Lady Elle as family so Lyka can start her waya training. :) As for Papa P aka Noah Hotness, I’m still wondering as to what the writers will make of him. Will he be Noah, the one working for Luna against the Lobo who will shoot Lyka, or the undercover good guy trying to find a way to stop the organization, but who will still shoot Lyka? We will just have to wait and see…

As for tomorrow night, Lady Elle asks the traitor if he’s the traydor. Hopefully nothing bad happens to Lady Elle. She has to stay alive — she has a mission!

Lobo Tuesday and “Fated To Love You,” Taiwan Drama

8 04 2008

Lobolicious Tuesday

Finally! I’ve been waiting for this kind of Lobo episode (the one that aired tonight). I was only able to watch the show a few minutes ago since I couldn’t find any uploaders who’d upload it at Philippine time. SO… where do I begin?!

Finally, Lyka and Noah both know the truth (or at least, Noah knows only what the Luna wants him to know). Just when Lyka got herself into a deep stinky mess, Lola Elle comes to the rescue and shows her true hairy side. Meanwhile, Noah is chased down by a serum-injected black lobo and is saved by his adoptive father. Gabby and the gang proceed to tell Noah what’s really going down. Man, I thought he was having a nervous break down! The look on Noah’s face screamed, “Mental Hospital!”

OOH! I also have one of my questions answered from the April 1st entry! That weird guy with the hat is the traitor (traydor!!!) in the white waya clan. The black waya lobo was all saying, “Thanks Kuya (older brother),” when his kuya was releasing him from his cell. Man oh man…!

Coming back to Lyka, Elle directly tells Lyka that that she is her grandmother. This is where Lyka also discovers that Trixie knows everything as well.

I am glad that the writers aren’t pissing us off this time. Usually, when it comes to any Filipino drama, the damned writers are always prolonging everything, making twists, adding questions, adding miscommunication which leads the main characters to fight each other while the bad guys are sipping wine — all this with no relief of finding out the truth (which usually can be found waaaaaaaaaay at the finale). Probably the major thing that erred me a bit about Lobo is during The Dark Days when Noah and Lyka were running away from the military (and Gabby yapping away way too much that time).

Although, for the past few weeks, I have been wondering if whether the writers, or any of the Lobo cast and crew, read what fans of the show have to say. In yesterday’s episode, when the Luna female scientist was being all chismosa on Anton’s work, the screen had a date: March 30, 2008. Hmmm… Did the Lobo crew type a random date or was it the date of that day’s filming? If so, that would just give the show an advance of one week prior to the airing of the taping. THEREFORE, it would give them plenty of time to satisfy the viewers’ wants and needs and to fix any criticisms made by the fans on screen.

On the other hand, I’m somewhat disappointed because I expected that the taping would have begun as soon as Angel Locsin and Piolo Pascual accepted the roles. This would give both the writers and the directors enough time (in addition to the 2-3 years) to develop the story in writing AND on film. Hell, if the writers are going to be like Marimar’s writers and acting upon a whim day after day, asking, “Hmm… how are we going to make Marimar’s life a mess today?”, then f*cking forget it! I might as well stop watching the show now. I like shows that have been carefully planned out, with mystery, with questions answered from time to time, and with everything connecting! An intricate web.

However, I think it’s “safe” to say that Lobo hasn’t jumped into the tide of crazy as Marimar did. They proved that earlier with tonight’s episode. The story is moving forward, questions are being answered, but viewers are still left with intrigue on what’s to happen next.

I am “Fated To Love” Ethan Ruan

Gosh, he’s so fine. Ethan Ruan (as Ji Cun Xi) and Chen Qiao En (as Chen Xin Yi) currently stars in Fated To Love You, a new Taiwan drama that started airing in March 2008. Yes, I am late in announcing that. I was at mysoju.com getting my daily soju fix and stumbled upon the show. Let me tell ya, it’s good. Maybe it’s because Ethan’s so fine and Chen Qiao En plays a budding working woman who’s always being pushed around.

Anyways, here’s the summary from your friendly Dramawiki.com:

A really unfashionable working class girl Chen Xin Yi has the desire to tie down her handsome boyfriend to be with her. Due to certain reasons, her boyfriend gets her to go on a love cruise and she started to ponder on how to lose her virginity and tie down her boyfriend. Xin Yi ended up taking cold medicine which made her drowsy and went into Ji Cun Xi’s room. Cun Xi is the sole male heir to his family’s company and has been in love with his girlfriend, Anna, for a long time. He planned to propose to Anna on the boat but she didn’t turn up on the cruise. An island owner added drugs into Cun Xi’s drink and Cun Xi became disorientated and returned to his own room. Xin Yi and Cun Xi end up having a one night stand. Xin Yi later finds out that she’s pregnant and Cun Xi’s grandmother forces them to get married. Will a couple forced to marry for the sake of their unborn child find love with each other?

AND here’s the link to watch it. The first episode’s steamy bed scene was probably the main reason why people got so hooked. :) Oh, and it’s fun and funny too, with occasional teary moments (just a little!).

Anyways, good night and happy drama viewing everyone!!

‘Lobo’ Just Got Better

4 04 2008

I just finished watching Friday night’s episode of Lobo, and oh my God, I can’t wait for next week. Lady Elle and Trixie have finally summoned up the courage to go to Nessa and find out what’s going on. If only they had done this sooner! From the looks of it, some kind of explanation will be passed between Nessa and her aunt, Lady Elle, for Nessa smelled her scent. I. Can’t. Wait. for the explaining to begin! :)

Lyka, on the other hand, has to go and be all naive action hero and go to the one place that no lobo would ever want to find themselves in. Come on! You’re basically throwing yourself into the fire, and by golly, you will get burned. I think it’s also the same facility that Piolo went to find the truth behind what’s going on between his adoptive father and Gabby. Papa P will probably save her.

After Lyka promised her Mom to never go near the Luna agency, she had a soliloquy in which she realized that her power could be used for good. While she was speaking, I was imagining a better time in the future in which the lobo clan can help the military fight crime. :) Noah and Lyka together. Aww. The background composition greatly helped the scene as Angel unfolded the confusion that lay within her. It was a very Smallville moment and at the same time, the show made its own — which I really loved.

Tonight’s episode was really good in that it brought both tears (during the confrontation between Nessa and Lyka) and goosebumps of excitement for the upcoming episodes. I hope Lobo will be able to maintain this kind of excitement by continuing to direct the story forward, rather than prolonging each of their scenes, as they have for the past few weeks now. The beginning of Lobo, which I shall call the “Happy Days,” were, well, great and filled with stomach flipping, Piolo-hotness, and a fun Lyka. Then there’s the “Dark Days,” in which Lyka and Noah were getting away from the military and there were all these tears, and too many can’t-help-but-roll-your-eyes moments whenever Gabby spoke. Now it’s jumping back from those days into a better one. I can’t wait for next week, so until then, happy Lobo viewing! :)

Lobo Tuesday: Lyka and Nessa Back in Manila

1 04 2008

Here’s a summary on today’s episode:

Today on Lobo, Noah is locked up and Lyka and Nessa have decided to go back to Manila. Noah, on the other hand, is still confused on why Lyka had him arrested and has his friend, Andrew, to look after her. Andrew gives Lyka the cold shoulder just as they were leaving the province. Elle and her waya clan have captured the black waya and suspects that there’s a traitor in the white clan. (Unfortunately, I don’t know who it is because I haven’t been watching the show religiously. So if anyone knows, give me a heads up!). Lyka and Nessa go to Mama Clara, but obviously, she tells them to leave. Lyka then tells Mama Clara, that despite the way she’s been treated, she still loves her aunt. Lyka and Nessa then continues on their mission to find a place to stay. The whole freaking time, I was shouting, “GO TO TRIXIE!!!,” because Elle has urged to Trixie to find her granddaughter. At the end of the episode, Nessa suspects that someone is following them and tells Lyka to start running. The scene ends with a car right behind them.

Now onto my thoughts about the episode:

I freaking hope that Trixie used her ultra-sensitive nose to find Lyka and that that’s her following them in that car.

Nothing much to elaborate about the episode since no questions were answered. My questions are as follows:

  • Why is Nessa afraid to see Kuya Anton and flash backed on the night Anton was bit? If Nessa bit him, then she should be a black lobo, so why is she so afraid?
  • Who is the traitor amongst the white waya clan?

However, I can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode because I need to know who’s in that car following them! Here’s to hoping it’s Trixie!!!!! :)
