When ASAP goes into a commercial, I usually press the channel button and watch SOP to avoid the ads. Commercials on both TFC and GMAPinoyTV only last 30 seconds, at most, and then the fun continues. Whereas in the Philippines, to watch my beloved Lobo, I have to sit and watch three to four commercials of KC Concepcion’s annoying Palmolive advertisements, in a row. -_-
SOP does not interest me, at all, due to the fact that I don’t know many of the celebrities there, I have an annoyance with Ogie, Janno, Jaya, and Regine, and I just don’t like the dancing. Although, surprisingly, when they introduced Lucia Micarelli and started to perform, this caught my attention. To me, this is probably the only performance I’ve ever liked on SOP.
ASAP also did a segment with Micarelli (half Korean-Half Italian New Yorker), but it wasn’t focused on her as it was on SOP. Instead, Papa P, Christian Bautista, and Richard Poon took center stage in singing and I couldn’t even hear Micarelli’s violin! I thought she was a back up until I saw her again on SOP. Word to ASAP directors: Make your guest center stage next time… and pick a better song.
As for SOP, when I finally heard Micarelli’s violin, I thought her performance was beautiful, especially the little tune before and after Mamma Mia. The oldies’ (Ogie, Janno, Jaya, and Regine) Mamma Mia rendition was fun and not serious at all (unlike ASAP’s) and it also looked like Micarelli enjoyed it.

I haven’t watched Dyesebel yet since I really have no interest for it. As of right now, I’m just going to wait until the show is on GMAPinoyTV (which is 2 weeks behind the Philippine broadcast).
SOP doesnt me interest me at all too, never did and I think never will be. Even back home, the routine for Sundays is mass, lunch, ASAP, The Buzz, nap or malling then back to the house for snack then dinner. Even the few cousins of mine who are left there still do the same thing. I just feel that production needs to be better but I do agree with you that I wish ASAP would let their guests do their own thing and not add any of the cast of the show to be part of it. But even with that I will still take ASAP =)
I wont be watching Dyesebel too since only one aunt has PinoyTV and she doesnt live near me. I have no plans of subscribing to anything but ABS-CBN Now and besides in my mind the only Dyesebel I know and love was Charlene Gonzalez in a movie. Alice Dixon was ok too.
beloved Lobo -> THUMBS UP!!
@ raissa – heh Agree! It’s quite obvious that when compared to ASAP, SOP just doesn’t stand a chance.
First of all, ASAP has almost every well-known celebrity there (which can be a burden to those trying to get a part in a show when they’re going against Toni Gonzaga, Bea Alonzo, Angel Locsin… and the list goes on). How can I enjoy SOP when I don’t know more than half of the people there?
Second, SOP needs a better choreographer — enough said in that department.
Third, the oldies are oldies — they need to retire. I could say the same for Gary Valenciano, but at least the guy can dance. Whereas for Martin Nivera, that’s a whole other story.
I also forgot to mention that in contrast to ABS-CBN, GMA has better picture quality. The picture quality of their shows are crisp, clean, and clear. However, I cannot praise them for the quality of their drama plots. With that, I blame the writers. heh

So do I and to think I feel like I am pretty much updated about whats going on in Phil Showbiz LOL but I know only a handful. I mean I know the quadruplet but other than them I have no idea. ITA, at least Gary can dance and well Martin, he is one of the original hosts of ASAP when it first started and I think they need him so keep the fanbase what started with it. I actually dont mind them because at least they only do what they can do and doesnt attempt at anything else.
SOP needing a better choreographer – LOL and a better floor manager..some of those in the production numbers are bumping into each other. I dont know if its lack of space or wanting to be in the frame. They just look too cramped when I think theres whole lot of back-up dancers in ASAP on top of the dozen stars performing but at least they are spread out.
ABS-CBN’s have always had problems with their signal. They are crisp and clear in some areas more than others. Thank goodness, their signal in Tacloban where I am from and from relatives houses in Manila where I lived during college were good. I think its coz of their transmission or something which I think is already being dealt with.
re: drama plots – thats nothing new with the exception of TGIS. It always been like that. Also production wise, their drama looks too soundstage-y to me like the US soaps here even though they use real houses and not soundstage. Case in point the street where Marimar lives, there didnt seem to be any traffic – human or auto except for them. Ngeng! I get that theres a need for crowd control but throw in some extras so it will look more believable, more natural.
ooops sorry for the long reply =)
